Perhaps you are a new parent at FACE and you have no idea whats what. Rest assured, that’s perfectly normal!<\/p>\n

The school, the only one of its kind in Quebec, brings together elementary and high school from two different school boards, as well as a special Beaux-Arts<\/em> project that requires arrangements in the schedule. With nearly 1400 students aged 4 to 17, there a lot of activities and a need for parent volunteers.<\/p>\n

Here is a brief summary of how you can get involved in the life of this very special school.<\/p>\n

The FACE Foundation has existed since the early 2000. \u00a0Its role is to help finance the arts program, for example the purchase or maintenance fees for the instruments that are leant to the students each year.<\/p>\n

 Each school has its Board, as recognized by law LIP (Loi sur l’Instruction publique). These meetings are public and all parents may attend. \u00a0Parents may \u00a0ask questions during the question period, but only elected parents that are members of the board may vote. \u00a0There are teachers, school staff and some students that are also members of the Board. \u00a0Elections happen during the Annual General Assembly at the beginning of each school year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Being elected on the board is a commitment to attend monthly meetings -about 8 to 10 in total for the school year.<\/p>\n

All discussions and decisions are recorded and accessible here<\/a>. We discuss general policies and school programs (the school’s philosophy) and other important matters.<\/p>\n

All decisions taken by the Board myst be based on the best interest of the students<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
